Friday morning brought a renewed freshness after Thursday’s travels and recovery pool session, and the squad started work early this morning following a half-hour journey to a Tokyo training pitch.

For those who played the majority of Wednesday’s win over Sydney, the session was kept short, with head tennis and keep-ball featuring heavily.

The goalkeepers had an altogether tougher workout, as did the youngsters who didn’t to feature in Okayama, and all responded well to the demands on a sunny and unseasonably warm December morning.

It was then back to the hotel for a swift lunch before departing for a local nursery and welfare centre for disabled children. More information on the visit can be found elsewhere, but it is worth noting just how much all involved enjoyed the trip and mixing in with the kids, and how appreciated their attendance was, not just by the youngsters but the adults who give their time to such a worthy cause.

Afterwards it was time for tourism as the group visited the Asakusa Kannon Temple to stretch their legs and take in some Japanese culture.

There was naturally plenty of attention on the Blues from all manner of supporters and members of the public, with this canine’s owner desperate to take away a rather unique momento of the occasion.

He was not the only one, as Yuki Ogimi, Rachel Williams and Marie Hourihan got in on huge act.

Ogimi, in her element as the main attraction in the squad, then joined Jodie Brett and Hannah Blundell in front of the the camera.

Best picture award however goes to Eva Woods, the physio, who captured several of the girls quite brilliantly.

Back at the hotel afterwards, Ogimi completed some media commitments before sitting down with our official Japanese Twitter account for a Q&A session. She had this message for fans beforehand…

That was the final act of a long day. On Saturday, the girls are back in training as preparations for Sunday’s IWCC final against INAC Kobe Lionessa will be finalised. We will have another update from Tokyo at the end of the day. Untitled the you. Can keep up with the girls on Twitter using @ChelseaLFC.
